This class is designed to polish your dog's responses to Sit, Down, Stay, Come, leash walking and Attention. Rally Obedience exercises used to add fun to the learning. Dogs come to all lessons. Canine Good Citizen/Therapy Dog International
Rally Obedience
Novice Obedience
Novice is the first
level competition obedience. Novice, results in your dog earning a Companion Dog
(CD) title. The title actually describes what is expected of your dog: demonstrating the
skills required of a good canine companion. The dog will have to heel both on and off
leash at different speeds, come when called, stay (still and quietly!) with a group of
other dogs when told, and stand for a simple physical exam. We conduct frequent Therapy Dog International testing. This test certifies dogs for work in therapy such as nursing homes, hospital and other community facilities. Dogs taking the test must be at least one year old and should be at least at the CGC level in training and temperament. For details of the test, go to www.tdi-dog.org. Call for next test date. Pre-Registration is necessary in order to get a testing time. CHILL! For Reactive Dogs This intensive six-week class is designed for dogs that react aggressively to other dogs or strangers; or are so overly stimulated that their social interactions with people and dogs can be inappropriate. Your dog will learn how to maintain his/her composure in the presence of others and behave in non-aggressive ways. You will learn how to handle your dog confidently in public and manage your dog’s environment and behavior for peaceful interactions with people and dogs. The class uses positive reinforcement clicker training methods to modify behavior. Enrollment in this class is very limited to ensure a high degree of personal attention from instructors. Owners must complete the required profile and will be contacted by the instructor prior to completing registration for the class. Owners are strongly encouraged to bring another adult family member or friend to assist. No children are allowed in this class. Dogs do not come to Lesson 1. We have different levels of Agility ranging from novice to advanced. Owners and dogs are instructed on the rules and techniques for Agility. Beginning Agility dogs must have completed at least CGC and be pre-screened by the instructor. All new students/dogs to K9U regardless of level must be pre-screened.
