Class Descriptions

Puppy Kindergarten

pupwag.gif (1234 bytes)This class is six week class for puppies ranging in age from 10 to 20 weeks plus their family. The class is designed to teach the pups basic commands in a fun play setting. We discuss how to work with and/or prevent the various undesirable puppy behaviors, improve housetraining and many other puppy topics. We also work on socializing the pups in order to desensitize them to unfamiliar puppies and people. Puppies get a 5-10 minute supervised play session at each class.

Household Dog Obedience 1

boxpup.gif (5872 bytes)This is a six week class which is open to all aged puppies and dogs who have not been through any obedience classes yet. Our goal is to have all members of your family work with your dog in a positive and consistent manner. The entire family will be guided on how to establish a leadership relationship with your dog while still being best friends. We begin by introducing you to the proper care and handling of your dog and then basic dog obedience and reprogramming undesirable behaviors. Much of the curriculum focuses on the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen Test. This is a fun class for the whole family, including your dog. Our training method involves positive motivation and play learning. Dogs do not come to Lesson 1.

Puppy-Dog Intensive

This is a three week small group class of only 4 students.  It is open to puppies and dogs ages 10 weeks to 12 months. The class focuses on basic obedience and behavior similar to Household Dog Obedience 1; however, each session's curriculum is customized to the particular needs of the small group.

Reliable Recall

The Number 1 complaint of most dog owners is that their dog does not Come when called. This is a two week class specifically focusing on COME and is open to all aged puppies and dogs.  The first week explains why dogs do not Come when called and teaches a new conditioning technique. The second week works on practicing recalls in class with variables such as distance and distractions.

Pre-Agility

corgtire.gif (5539 bytes)Pre-Agility is for puppies/dogs of all ages who have completed at least one obedience course. The class emphasizes better attention, control and obedience with very beginning introduction to agility equipment. Obedience focuses on leash walking, better stays with distractions, targeting, and recalls. The agility introduces dogs to low level agility equipment in order to build the dog's confidence to new and unusual things. The class is designed to better the dogs' responses to basic obedience commands in a fun play setting.

Leash Walking

This class is for pups/dogs who have completed one introductory class (PK or HD1) and need more emphasis on improving Heeling. We incorporate many fun exercises to make Heeling positive and productive.

Household Dog Obedience 2
