Dogessori Day School ®

Your dog needs a jump start with training?

Busy family life?

Let our Canine University Professors do it for you. Customized plans for you and your dog save time, money and frustration.  Our Professors work with your dog the way we approach training our own dogs–with patience, consistency and positive training methods that work. We are looking into a new location for Dogessori S.A.T. program..will update soon!

DOGESSORI DAY SCHOOL ® S.A.T.  (Specialized Academics Training)  is a new even more personalized and intensive Dogessori Day School training program.   Amy Gutmann is the primary trainer with one other assistant trainer. School enrollment is limited to a small number of students.  School times will be specified, Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays, from 8:30am-1:00pm. Call for details and procedure for acceptance into the program.

DOGESSORI DAY SCHOOL ® is a concentrated training program, not a doggie day care.  ( This larger program is not being offered this winter, just the S.A.T. type program). Your dog will have a unique Individualized Training Plan and Goals which are developed through the owner’s input as well as the trainer’s evaluation.  Your dog will get multiple intensive training sessions throughout the day allowing us to teach new obedience commands, work on trouble behavior areas, and/or solidify positive behaviors your dog has already learned.  Each dog’s trainer will send home a Student Report Card at the end of each day as well as give the owner a 5-10 minute summary of the day’s training and homework. Owners are also sent home with a blank Parent Progress Report which owners note each training session and particular feedback in order to give to the trainer the next school day. We feel that training needs to go full circle: we get the initial training started during school, send home instructions and homework and then the owner does the daily homework and returns progress report. We will continue to instruct you on how to train your do in order to reach your dog’s Training Goals. We often recommend one or two in-home private training consultations to make sure the homework  is productive. The success of the program depends threefold: our training during the day, our instructing you on daily homework and your completion of homework and feedback. Typical topics owners like to have in their dog’s program: Basic obedience commands (Sit, Down, Stay, Heel and Come), Sit politely for greeting, Waiting at doorways, Walking nicely on leash, Coming when called, Go to your mat.. Most Dogessori students attend school for one to two months: 2 full days for 4-8 weeks. You will be amazed and delighted at your dog’s improvement. We can teach in several sessions what it might take you months to learn on your own. Your dog benefits by learning from skilled and experienced dog Professors. We will help guide you on training your dog as well as maintaining your dog’s good manners.

Dogessori ® Day Camp   is a structured activities day for your dog. (This is not being offered this winter). This is an alternative to our Dogessori Day School ® . Day Camp is not all day free play like doggie day care. Day Camp has specific activities throughout the day.  A typical day at Day Camp will include such activities as Best Friend playtime; low level agility; outdoor leash walking; doggie games such as Retrieving and Hide n Seek; baby pool swimming; and occasional walk in the park field trips.  Campers will have individualized camp attention by their camp counselor. Camp dogs do not receive Individualized Training Plan, Report Cards nor Parent Progress Reports, just a Camp Day Summary.

Individualized Tutoring: Your dog is worked with for an entire hour with one of our Professors. Owner can be part of this training or Owner can drop off their dog and receive a summary upon pick-up. Typical Tutoring sessions are 1 to 1 ½ hours.

Recess Recall Training: This is approximately a 10-15 minute supervised playtime for only 2 compatible dogs at one time. Recess Recall Training is for the dogs to interact and play for a short time and then be responsive to the supervising professors. The dogs are paired with compatible dogs based on age, play styles and temperament. Obedience Name Response and Come are incorporated during Recess.  Dogs must be pre-screened to qualify for Recess and Owners must choose Recess to be added to their dog’s Training Program. Those dogs who qualify for Recall Recess Training will have this during one of their regular training sessions.

Nap Time: All dogs get a break between activities. This break is very important. It gives the dogs the opportunity to relax and refresh before their next activity. Dogs are either crated or ex-penned (please let us know if your dog is not able to be crated).

Report Cards:  Owners will receive report card each day describing the training progress of their dog, including homework training recommendations.
