This workshop is designed for owners/handlers who are showing their purebred dog at AKC point shows. It is intended to give you an overview of many aspects of showing your dog from the perspective of an owner – handler. All breeds are welcome to attend! This is a hands on workshop for you and your dog. Come prepared to learn and have fun!
We will begin with “Getting Started”. This class will prepare you to learn how to show your dog in the conformation show ring. This will be a basic overview on how to stack and gait your dog. You will learn basic ring patterns and ring etiquette. We will then take an in depth look at how to make your dog look its best in the ring and what to do if you encounter difficult ring situations. You will also learn how to present your dog to bring out its best attributes and downplay the faults. A variety of handouts will provided.
